Fabrication of welded assemblies in compliance with contract/customer specifications, company policies and/or procedures and American Welding Society (AWS) and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standards.
Accurate knowledge of AWS standard weld symbols, welding symbols, and standard procedures including fillet welds, groove welds, plug welds, slot welds, spot welds, seam welds, flange welds, stud welds and surfacing welds. Ability to demonstrate required skill levels for appropriate AWS certifications. Knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment, welding equipment, and all necessary tools or equipment used in the fabrication process: ability to demonstrate skill levels in the operation of accessory tools including pneumatic hand tools, standard hand tools, and measuring equipment. Ability to demonstrate appropriate safe-work habits and practices. Ability to understand and follow complex directions, instructions, and/or other forms of production communications.
To apply paint, primer, and other similar materials in compliance with contract/customer specifications, company policies and/or procedures conforming to American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standards and Structural Steel Painting Council (SSPC) standards.
Accurate knowledge of AISC standards and procedures relative to surface preparation and paint application. Knowledge of SSPC standards regarding surface preparation: knowledge of and skill in applying various paint types and/or primers to a variety of materials under variable conditions including, but not limited to, temperature, viscosity, humidity, and ventilation. Knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment, blasting equipment, paint application equipment and all accessory tools/equipment used in the coating process. Ability to demonstrate appropriate skill levels in the operation of accessory tools including pneumatic hand tools, standard hand tools, and measuring equipment; ability to demonstrate appropriate safe-work habits and practices; ability to understand and follow complex blueprints, directions, instructions and/or other forms of production communications.
Programs, sets up, operates and maintains CNC equipment to produce parts in compliance with contract/customer specifications, company policies and/or procedures conforming to American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standards.
Accurate knowledge of AISC standards and procedures relative to allowable tolerances, finishes and locations. Knowledge of and skill in machining a variety of material types in varying thickness and configurations. Knowledge of and demonstrable skill in trouble shooting programs, reprogramming, and operating and maintenance of various CNC controls and/or equipment. Knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment and all accessory tools/equipment used in the machining process. Ability to demonstrate appropriate skill levels in the operation of accessory tools including pneumatic hand tools, standard hand tools and measuring equipment. Ability to demonstrate appropriate safe-work habits and practices. Ability to understand and follow complex blueprints, directions, instructions, and other production communications.
Applicants must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record and be insurable. This position would require early morning pickups and afternoon returns of company employees in our company van. Some occasional out of town deliveries and pickups to paint shops, fab shops and machine shops. Serious applicants need to be dependable and have a flexible schedule. This would be a great position for a semi-retired individual.
To maintain various machinery within the plant. Trouble shoot machinery breakdown and effectively correct the problem while maintaining the correct Lock-out/Tag-out procedures. Administer preventative maintenance to various machinery throughout the plant on a regular basis while maintaining documentation.
Accurate and basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronics, pneumatics, and ability to read and understand schematic blueprints. Ability to demonstrate appropriate safe work habits and practices. Ability to demonstrate appropriate skill levels in the operation of accessory tools and equipment in the maintenance field.
Duties:
Perform visual inspections (VT) of finished welds in process and on completed jobs
Check weld machine setup and the welding techniques of welders on work in progress
Record the results of tests and welding inspections
Ensure all welding is performed in conformance with applicable welding codes, company standards, and customer requirements
Assist with performing various NDT examination and documentation
Perform final QC inspections of finished products
Ensure all QC operations are carried out in a timely manner
Skills Required:
Must have a thorough knowledge of welding practices, codes, and procedures per AWS D1.1 and D1.5
Must be familiar with the steel fabrication processes and be comfortable working in a welding shop environment
Must be able to interpret shop drawings and welding symbols
Must be familiar with various forms of NDT examination and documentation
Must be able to generate and process inspection reports in an expeditious and thorough manner
Must have good communication and organizational skills;
With the Plant Manager and Project Managers to determine the specific requirements of a given work order, including the scope of work, deliverables, schedules, and budget for a particular assignment
To determine that the specific services provided are performed in accordance with the project requirement and contract with the client
To maintain a positive relationship between the fabrication facility and the client
To resolve scheduling issues between the fabrication personnel, contractors, and other third parties
Must be proficient in basic computer equipment including cell phones, and digital cameras
Must have the ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing the efficiency or quality of the work
Client oriented approach with emphasis on understanding and fulfilling the needs of the client
Detail oriented with a dedication to the quality control and quality assurance process; ability to understand and read complex design and fabrication plans and specifications
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED or similar
College Degree (Associates Degree) or vocational training a plus
Must possess current American Welding Society-Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate
Experience Requirements:
5 Years’ Experience in the Welding Industry
2 Years’ experience in Quality Control Related field is preferred
Must have a background in handling Structural Steel / Bridge Fabrication inspections (D1.5) and/or tubular pole fabrication
Must have extensive working knowledge and experience with D1.1 and D1.5
Must have current AWS CWI Certification
Level II for UT, PT, MT certifications preferred, but not required
Knowledge of industry standard bolting procedures
Other Considerations:
Position requires work in an active steel fabrication environment that can be noisy and dirty.
Some heavy lifting may be required
Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
Must have good eyesight
A Drug Test and Background Check are required.
Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
